He Kāmaka Waiora Māori Health

Public Service, Kaupapa Māori Service

He Kamaka Waiora Maori Health Services

In 2011 a bilateral initiative was launched to improve the quality of health service delivery across both the Auckland and Waitematā District Health Boards.  The initiative's goal is to improve the health outcomes of Māori by helping hospitals deliver better health outcomes for Māori, by retaining Māori who become healthcare professionals and to improve healthcare practices.

From this He Kāmaka Oranga, Auckland DHB and Mo Wai Te Ora, Waitematā DHB became He Kāmaka Waiora Māori Health Services across Auckland and Waitematā DHBs.

The introduction of practices based on tikanga Māori have made a significant contribution to Māori Health gain in the region.

From July 2022 we are now Te Whatu Ora, Te Aka Whai Ora across all districts.
For Auckland District Te Toka Tumai our service name is He Kamaka Waiora Maori Health
For Waitemata District our service name is He Kamaka Waiora Maori Health
